The Boca Raton Bicycle Club

The Boca Raton Bicycle Club, originally uploaded by jsrcyclist.

I belong to the Boca Raton Bicycle Club (www.brbc.clubexpress.com). The Boca Raton Observer is doing an article on them and asked me to take this photo. I was more than happy to, as these great guys and gals have helped through A LOT over the past 4 years!

This shot was taken at about 6:50AM on Saturday morning, before the club splits into different paced groups and rides an approximate 25 mile course around the Logger’s Run area of West Boca Raton.

Ok, first attempt at an Animoto slideshow. I just picked a few random & recent shots. I could easily get hooked on this!

Green Cay Wetlands on a Sunday Morning

1 12 2008

I actually managed to get out of bed this morning and drag my lazy butt to Green Cay Wetlands in Boynton Beach. The parking lot was packed, so needless to say, there camera-bearing humans splayed out along the wooden boardwalk. Marty Fuchs came out to join in the festivities. (Ok, he was there at 7, waiting patiently for yours truly– the oversleeper).

I was fortunate enough to take some photographs of “birds in flight,” a category of which there is a paucity in my portfolio.

Awake on my airplane, my skin is bare . . .

Spent the Saturday evening with Tony, Adilia, and Steve (the Vortex of Knowledge). While I was shooting a series of 5 long exposures to later merge to HDR, I was lucky enough to catch “The Strike”.

Shortly after this was taken, the storm clouds really picked up overhaed and we high-tailed off of Watson Island.

Here are two more from the shoot:

Barack Obama Rally in Sunrise Florida

Obama, originally uploaded by jsrcyclist.

This past Friday I went to my first political candidate rally of the election year. Jessica Savidge, Danny Hammontree, and I attended the Barack Obama Rally at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida. I have to say, going part as press and part as a supporter, I did not know whether to clap at times or press my camera shutter release button.  We arrived with the main press corps at about 1:00.  Even at that early hour, there were still thousands of Obama supporters lined up at the front of the arena. After linking up with a Sun Sentinel reporter, we found our way to the press entrance at the back of the building.  The area was buzzing with Secret Service officers and BSO officers. They instructed us to set our equipment down on the ground so the police dogs could sniff around.  After we passed the sniff test, we were ushered inside the arena, and escorted through the metal detectors.  A Secret Service officer then gave us each and Obama ‘08 press pass and explained to us “the rules” as he walked us out onto the main arena floor.  And then, the waiting game began.  There was a good hour or so of mic checks, equipment checks for the opening band, etc.

More to come soon!
